Default Best Places to Eat Supper in Awbenny, GA

Looking for a Friday and Saturday recommendation while in Awbenny in several weeks.

Gonna do Jimmies hot dogs for lunch. Would like locally owned place, a rib place and a southern or chicken place would be a great combo, but lookin for the best.

Will be at a family event, returning to family roots, so will need seating two families for 8 - 12 so a dive may not measure up.

Thanks in advance.

If you are even in New Bern, NC, hands down it is the Chelsea Restaurant, by the way.

I would recommend Riverfront BBQ and Pearly's Famous Country Cooking. Both of these places have great food and have plenty of space to handle large crowds. If you are staying at the Hilton downtown on the river Riverfront BBQ is just across the street. (Also I hope you know that Jimmy's Hotdogs does not have any seating, except one or two outdoor tables.)

I have eaten at Pearly's and agree that it is awesome. Definately make a point to eat there for real down home southern food.

Jo's country cooking on Dawson Road directly across from Lake Loretta has some fine eating, with some wonderful homemade cakes!

As for ribs, to me - NO RESTAURANT beats Blackbeards (BBQ & Seafood) on 2209 N. Slappey Drive at (Near Whispering Pines Road.) Their seafood is also very good!

Carters Grill and Restaurant at 321 W. Highland by the bus station has some great soul food - greens, ox tail, Chitterlings etc... and their food has always been good.

Of course, there is a wonderful Italian restaurant called Villa Gargano's on 1604 N. Slappey Drive that has the best pizza I have ever eaten (If you go, order the large special pizza!!!) There is also a Cracker Barrel over across from Sam's Club and near the mall.

BTW - I love Jimmy's hotdogs! But also, there is the Little Red Dog House over on 821 W. Broad Ave that has great chili dogs and my fav which is a scramble dog!

Hope this helps!

Harvest Moon on Dawson Road and Westgate Drive/Whispering Pines Road is also a good choice!
