canton, georgia
Is canton a great area to live? Is it rural or suburban? I notice on atlantahomeview that the homes were very reasonably priced. How about home appreciation? I am trying to decide where to live in GA.

We just bought a great home in Harmony on the Lakes in Canton. We were down there a few weeks ago and looked all over the Atlanta metro, and fell in love with the Canton/Holly Springs area. Right now, Canton is very rural with the exception of the area right around downtown, but like many places in the Atlanta metro, it's growing. The nice thing is, the developers seem to be being sensible in what they're doing. Harmony on the Lakes, for example, is 630 acres, but only around 1,000 homes. That's less than 2/acre, which leaves plenty of preserved space. Coming from NJ, that's a real surprise.
One thing to bear in mind is that the commute can be a real bear if you've got to head into Atlanta for work- you're looking at 1 to 1 1/2 hours, depending on where you're going. I've got the luxury of being home-based and being able to arrange meetings to have me commuting at non-rush hour times, so it works for me.

Bob, I gotta ask what builder you guys went with in Harmony and what size home you built? I only ask, because there are certain builders to stay away from over there.

We bought a +/- 2,300 SF home (plus basement) from Pulte. I've worked with Pulte in the past in both Las Vegas and NJ, and have had nothing but good experiences with them.

Great!! Pulte is good.....I was hoping you were going to say Sharp or the other builder in there.....Those homes might fall down one day as they are that crappy built.

Ya
I'm moving to New Orleans.
Seriously I got my house in Cherokee because it was low crime and inexpensive.
But unless you are married and raising a kid, it's boring as hell, it's too conservative.
That said many people like it.

Yeah, there are plenty of vampires there in NO! Along with black magic, voodoo and witchcraft. I assume you might be into all that, so NO would be a great place for you.....
