Where is a good area of Cobb County to live.
I am looking for a lower price area, but still in Cobb county, they say my daughter can stay in her school as long as its in Cobb County and not in Marietta City, so I am looking for an area, although I love diversity, I got scared off from Powder Springs but I need a place soon so I am not trying to move while she is in school.I would even love a rural area in Cobb, any ideas. Hi Atlantagreg.

Where in Cobb are you now? Cobb County has FAR more good places than bad ones, in my opinion, so I think it would be easier to pick an area and avoid the bad stuff in that area.
Southeast Cobb includes Smyrna and Mableton, and both have a good mix of housing including fairly high-end and fairly low-end homes. Southern Cobb has Austell (which I don't know much about crimewise).
Here's a map that might help:

If you can provide some guidance on your budget and commute, we may be able to suggest more. I would say that south Cobb is more urban and less rural in many spots, so if you really want a more rural area, you want to be in the northwestern part of the county by Acworth or there are some of the parts of Powder Springs that are less built up and even rural in nature.

Thank You
We need 3 BR under 1000.00, as for the commute we don't really have to worry my younger son drives 17 miles to work now, he works in Powder Springs. Right now we live in Kennesaw and while it nice it is EXPENSIVE. LOL

Neil, no area of Cobb County is rural.
There are a few areas that are somewhat less developed than what is typical of Cobb, but I'd argue that the last rural areas of Cobb disappeared some time in the 1990s.
For example, back in the 1980s, once you got west of the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park along Whitlock Rd/Dallas Highway, it was rural. Today, you don't hit rural area until you get west of Dallas in Paulding County.
There is one small patch of land at the extreme northwestern corner of the county, north of where US 41 crosses over Lake Allatoona, and west of US 41, just south of Bartow County that is exurban in nature, but it is an extremely small area, geographically speaking.
There's a few patches of "rural-like" land west of Hiram-Lithia Springs Road along Brown Road and south of Brownsville Road in Powder springs. However, we're talking about a mile or two stretch, at best, and it becomes more suburban-like once you hit the Paulding County line.
As a consensus, there is no rural are in Cobb County. You have to travel west to points west of Dallas or west of Douglasville to maintain even an exurban or slightly rural area. If you go northwest, you can hit some rural areas west of Euharlee and Taylorsville, or northeastern Bartow County.

If the town of Powder Springs isn't going to work, then you can go North of it about 4-5 miles or so into general "West Cobb". I believe if you stick to the area around The Avenues of West Cobb shopping district and West of that, you are not officially in a city limits, though your mailing address might be Powder Springs or Marietta depending on the exact location. A realtor would know more, but that area is nicer - and in the Hillgrove High School area which a lot of people like if you might want to change her school or she isn't in H.S. yet.
