I have to ask - Carrollton
Is it me or does there seem to be an overwhelming number of sexual offenders in Carrollton? More specifically charged with child molestation. I'm coming from a town with the same population and only 7 offenders. Carrollton has 80 registered offenders. Should this be a concern for someone considering this area as a family with young children?
Thanks for any input.

Huh?
Where did you get this information? I wonder if this is a case of "the other side of the tracks?" I am to be working in Carrollton, but have built in Villa Rica. I, too, have young children. I'll have to go to that state offender website now.
Thanks for the head's up.
Regards,
PMMD

The web site that we are on offers quite a bit of info, including the sex offenders. If you can't find it quickly just try going to google and typing "Carrollton GA detailed". This will show you the info and allow you to connect directly to the state's offender web site.

Your response is very vague and quite ominous. Can you tell me why you wouldn't move to Carrollton?

Don't worry about sex offenders in Carrollton. The media likes to scare you to death. There are approximately 22,000 people in Carrollton, so that means only 1 out of every 273 people is a sex offender. Carrollton is a nice little town, it has a rural feel yet its only a 45 minute drive to the city.

I am considering moving to Carrollton also, and would like to know more about the area. I will be attending University of West Georgia's Graduate program ..and plan to move this summer. I have a middle school aged daughter and was also quite surprised when i saw the number of sex offenders in the area on the city data info page for Carrollton.

In doing my research I had come across the FBI's web site for uniform crime reports. Its a pretty comprehensive web site, the address is: http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/ucr.htm. You can find crime statistics on the individual cities as well as counties. There isn't anything mentioned about sex offenders or crimes they have committed, this is why I am asking for individual input on the area.
