Default schools near or in Dalton

Hi,

How do I start looking for a school near Dalton? We are considering moving to the US for some years (2 or 3) but have two children (age 3 and 5). We don't want to keep them at home because we do think they need some social contact. My husband his work will be in Dalton, but he doesn't mind to drive half an hour to get there. Are kids don't speak any english, so I need a school that will accept non-english speakers. Is it enough to go and live near a school to be accepted?
Another option is home teaching, but then I need another way of giving them that social contact? If someone has any ideas? Are they organised communities of people educating their kids themselves?

And a final question: what is the best place near Dalton to live in general?

Thx, Veerle

In the dalton area, your main school systems include: dalton city schools, whitfield county schools, murray county schools, gordon county schools. These are the systems either in or near dalton. As you are probably aware, dalton and surrounding areas have a high immigrant population and the schools here do their best to ensure each student recieves the best possible education that the system can provide. Many of those systems mentioned above have special classes that help immigrant students make the translation to an english-speaking educational system easier and provide counseling to help immigrant students continue their education after the high-school level. Check out all of these systems and inquire about their educational opportunities for immigrant students and im sure they will be more than helpful in making sure your children recieve a good education. As for where to live near dalton you have: dalton, calhoun, chatsworth, tunnel hill, eton, and other small towns dotted throughout as well as vast areas of rural land depending on where yall decide to kick back, take your shoes off, and stay awhile.

I suggest Rocky Face or Tunnel Hill! The Whitfield County Schools are pretty great! I suggest Westside Elem and Westside Middle and Northwest High School, and as the above member mentioned, the schools do truly try to help w/ non-english speaking students! They help them to improve their English to transition to regular classes! Do you mind if I ask where you are from and what language you speak?

Belgium; we speak dutch.
Is it enough to rent a house in the district of the school to get accepted? Or does each school has a few streets which it covers?

Thx, Veerle
