Nice to see the city of Atlanta gaining population after years of decline. I guess those long commutes from the burbs are getting to be too much for a lot of ppl.

I doubt very many of the newcomers are those who spent years commuting in from the suburbs.
Most likely, most are:
1) young adults who may have grown up in the suburbs, but who want to experience city life. Most of them, however, didn't commute to downtown/"intown" areas.
2) Transplants who desire are more dense, closer in location, or the idea of being in the "city".

What??? Sandy Springs has way more than 82,000 people, it is close to at least 95,000. And it definitely didn't decline in population, nor did Roswell only gain 400 people. Do you have a source for this?

The article was from the Augusta Chronicle. Who source was the u.s census. Their may be 95,000 people who have a Sandy Springs address or zip code. But their is only 83,000 in the city limits. Sandy Springs CDP, Georgia - Population Finder - American FactFinder

Majority of the growth is in Harris County and southern Lee County. Just give it 2 years and you will be eating those words .
