Smile Thinking of relocating to Valdosta GA

My husband and I are thinking about moving from Lancaster County PA to Valdosta. Any thoughts or comments about it? We also have a beagle, and I would like to know what kind of insects, bugs, animals etc are in the "south" so we can make a decision on where we want to relocate. I know Florida has fire ants, aligators, poisonous todes and really bad fleas and ticks!! Any info would be great! We are thinking Valdosta because it's only about 5hrs from Orlando.

Thanks!

Valdosta is an ideal city and convenatly located almost between Atlanta and Orlando. I live in Orlando on the west side and it takes me 3 hours (At 70 mph) to get to Valdosta.
It is like many other southern cities with high growth. Has plenty of shopping, Just open a new Kohls and Old Navy, and family friendly. They even have a nice thyme park that is open year round. In the south you'll have to put up with bugs and long hot summers but NO snow. Don't expect temps in the 70's till late October.

Nice area, vry small town, LOL just the other side of Florida in Georgia.

I pass through there every year about 3 times to go to Tampa Fl.

Uh Fire ants are a plauge through out the south, once you hit southern NC you get em. Aligators LOL, yes there are some in GA in swamps but few.

Valdosta is just about Florida just over the line so anything Florida has in northern Florida they have.

Look at Waycross too, you would still be around 5 hrs from Orlando and only 1hr from Jacksonville Florida, 2 hrs from Savanna Ga, 3 from Atlanta.

Valdosta, Moultrie, Thomasville are all great areas that are growing and have rolled out the welcome matt for new people moving in. Check them all out.
Wild Adventures in Valdosta is one of the fastest growing theme parks in the country. About 8 roller coasters, water park, huge concerts every weekend, on of the best theme parks in the south or country for that matter.
Hope this helped.
Bugs are not that bad, get some OFF spray and your good. This year has not been bad at all, I haven't been bit by on "skeeter" so far this whole summer!
