Some info on Blairsville
Im move to GA from FL . I was looking at Blairsville. How is the town i see that it is small ,but that is what im looking for pretty much. But I see thats there is more white people than anything. I am white but my husband is putro rican and of course our children are mixed. We are kind of weird lol. We listen to country, hip hop, and spanish music. So I mean we are open to alot of things But we don't want to be were we feel we belong either.

I would worry more about the winters then the people. Coming from Florida would be a big adjustment weather wise. Cold and some snow plus mix in a little ice then see on the news that its 80 in south florida. Blairsville is a small but growing town. Very nice mountian town and friendly people. I hear lots people retiring to that area.

It should be something to look into. My Wife is Vietnamese and I am Caucasian. Large age difference. Had several experiences in western North Carolina. Amazing how ignorant some people can be.
We also looked into Blairsville but doing a lot of work on the internet and finding the lack of availablity of high speed CABLE internet in the area had us looking elsewhere unfortunately.

DSL is pretty easy to find here, so I am wondering how long ago you looked for property. If you are very secluded (next to National Forest) you may have an issue in some areas. I live in a remote area on top of a mountain and DSL is no problem.
There are some areas where people here who have lived in Appalachia all their lives, so you will find some people who are narrow-minded, but I think mostly that is because they haven't seen much diversity at all. The times are changing. With construction and the influx of Floridians, a lot of hispanics have come up. In addition, there are a lot of people of color who are coming up and over. Things are bound to change. You'd be amazed how you can win people over with a little kindness.

DSL is not high speed in comparison to Cable nor is it reliable. We have a major presence on the net as well as have an "outside" office and need speed and reliability. DSL doesn't have either that's suitable for a business like ours.
Further, we don't live in a commune and therefore We don't need to "win" people over. They are what they are. Better to avoid people like that.
We've written that area off completely.

I'm sure there are a lot of Blairsville residents who are glad to hear that.
People who come with their own prejudices and an 'attitude' don't fit in very
well most places. Good luck finding one where you do.

You mean "people like us" won't "fit in" with what you demand.
You are right about that. Most people have evolved forward of those positions.

You can take anything said and twist it. People here in Blairsville, GA and Union County are friendly, caring and giving folks. I doubt that a trip or two can give you an accurate picture of the true nature of people here. If you have already decided that people won't like...guess what...they probably won't. The only racism issue might lie with the person who originally pointed the finger. I have no doubt that any place you go you will be unhappy with people.

Glad to hear you won't be making it our fine city. You're right. You won't fit in.
Goodbye.
