Hi fruitnik!
Glad that I could help! And I heard that Bellsouth is a very excellent company to work for. Also they are apparently a pleasure to deal with on the phone when it comes to customer service. They have great benefits, excellent pay, training from the very start and throughout your employment there. Very accessible opportunities for advancement and last but not least they are extemely pro-equal opportunity and diversified. I read on their website that they pride themselves in how their employees are treated. They are located all over the South. If you go to www.bellsouth/careers.com (broken link) (I believe) that should get you to the right page. If I gave it to you wrong just go to www.bellsouth.com and their should be a link for "careers". Also I have viewed some great video clips on their website of employee's opinions about working for Bellsouth and I really believe it was authentic (not acted out or coached or anything like that.) Well check them out and I wish you all the best! By the way I was wondering if you actually had your heart set on moving to GA? If not let me know as I could share with you some great things I have learned in my own personal quest to find the "greener and "CHEAPER" grass" on the other side of the fence! LOL! Best wishes!
~Sara~

Look into these 2 areas
Central GA
I grew up in the Perry/Warner Robins area it's in the dead center of GA right off of I-75 and not a horrible drive from anywhere. 1.5 hrs. from ATL, 2hrs from FLA, and 3hrs. from the beach. It's a growing area and I think they pretty much got it under control as far as keeping with the growth.
Southeast GA
I just recently moved to the Brunswick/St. Simons area and it's not bad at all over here, it's in SE GA just off I-95. It has a nice location as well. It's 1hr to Jacksonville, 1hr to Savannah, 2 or 3hrs to S. Carolina, and 5 hrs to ATL. It's growing as well and is real laid back from what I've seen in my 4 mos. here. There's a law enforcement training center here too, if that makes you feel any safer. But what do I know I'm only 25.
Feel free to ask more if you need more
God bless, good luck

Henry and Rockdale Counties
I have lived in Henry County since 1999 and I have worked here and in Conyers (Rockdale County). Husband is a police officer in a neighboring county. I am a real estate agent. I am white but have many African American friends here. There is no perfect place on earth...but to me this is close to it! Let me know if I can help in any way! My email should be in my profile.

Hello Frutnik,
I feel truly blessed to have read your initial stories, and the very positive responses you received. I accidently came across this forum, but it is a blessing in disguise. Currently we share the same life story. I am a married woman with two small school age children and I too live in South Miami. Although I have a home here, the cost of living is out of control. From the car insurance, property taxes, home owners insurance, back to back hurricanes, poor schools system, crime, and the cost of new homes, I am abouth to have a nervous breakdown. I've been teaching over five years and I only make 34,000 a year. Lately I have been desiring to move my family to Georgia. I've visited many cities over the last 3 years in GA. and I am very impressed with what I have witnessed as a visitor. The homes are affordable and Georgia even pays teachers more than I am currently making. I just want a better life and future for my children and myself. I have no idea what part of Georgia to relocate to, but I will say this much, my top priority is schools of excellence for my children. Next,is diversity. Diversity means so much to me as a person, but most of all a mother. Last, I desire to reside in a community where there is low or no crime at all. I am open to suggestions. Dear brothers and sisters of metropolitan Georgia, please advise me of cities that are family oriented and children friendly.

Moving to Kingsland area maybe soon!
I have friends in Kingsland and they are helping me find a job in the area. I moved to MD 3˝yrs ago from Upstate NY. Like it here however, a better job is always a reason to move. If anyone out there can help me with learning more about the Kingsland area that would be great. I am a live-a-board person on a yacht here in MD. Are there any Marina's in the Kingsland area that allow live-a-boards? If not then where would be the next closest marina's that do allow live-a-boards? I am not worried about schools, being my daughter is married and on her own now. I am single and looking for a good job and a great place to live where houses do not cost $600K + for a simple little ranch style house. That is if I decide to move off the yacht.
Thanks in advance for any information.
John

Hi Fruitnik,
Try these links for Gov't jobs in the Kingsland area. It takes time to get a Gov't job however you never know. I do know that they are hiring at the Naval Base with the Gov't and with Gov't Contractors. Good Luck.

Hi JXU66,
I will be relocating to GA in a few months. I am here now and was checking out some areas in Gwinnet County. I like a few subdivions on lakeview drive....just off of Pharrs Rd. The subdivisions and the surrounding areas look pretty decent, can you advise as to the whether or not this is a good area? what about crime in this area?

I am not familiar with the area. Try to figure out which school district. Brookwood is very good school district where Central Gwinnett is not.

We live in Pooler, Georgia (chatham county). It's about 30 minutes North of Savannah. It's a nice area, seems diverse, the schools aren't bad, and the housing is affordable. Effingham county is a little further north, very good schools, affordable housing, close to Savannah still for shopping, close to SC for shopping, within a couple of hours of the beach, lots of land, and lots of development. If you would like any more info, feel free to ask.
