I have lived in Macon and now live in Columbus. True, Macon does feel MORE like a city, and Columbus feels more like a big 'burb. But if I had to choose who is ahead of who, Columbus takes the cake!!!!

How can you say that Columbus is ahead of Macon when there several things thats has been in Macon and the others years that still are not in Columbus............For one thing, the Columbus Mall/Shopping, Dining, projects being constructed, Infrastructure,Skyline and Etc is way Down Scale for a City of it size.....Second As far as more Goes Macon has Way more Sq ft of Retail and Commercial area than Columbus.... Macon has 2 malls now and plus Eisenhower crossing which weighs out North Columbus Crossing..... over 4 mixed use and retail life style centers which is expected to break ground in 2010 and several multi-million dollars Interstate upgrades and more misc development all over town, including what already exists..... So please explain why you feel that Columbus
Also These Augusta people Has Went on and on about the I-20/520 interchange project...... But Macon has 3 Big Interchanges which I-75/475 North interchange which is about be reconstructed, I-75/16 interchange DT is about be reconstructed, which is expected to cost over $350Million and which will be 12-14 lanes in some parts, including fly over bridges, new and larger ramps, and a tunnel. Also as we speak the I-75/475 south interchange is being reconstructed and starting in August the DOT reconstruction of I-75 up to North Macon to 6 lanes, including new ramps and bridges. In addition Macon is collaborating with Twigg, Houston and Bibb counties to build a South Corridor bypass highway connecting from I-16, to Twigg county Industrial park, Robins AFB G-ramp Project, Brosen yard, South Bibb 2 industrial parks and Middle Ga regional airport to I-75 and to the new Exit on Sardis Church rd where you can exit on or off the new Highway which just south of the Newly reconstructed I-75/475 interchange.....

Macon DOES have some things that Columbus doesn't have, but Columbus ALSO has stuff that Macon doesn't have. I like the Columbus lifestyle way better than Macons, Your statements won't change my opinion and the people's who feel the same.

Augusta has I-20/520 in Richmond county. I-20/520 in Aiken county which includes miles of new interstate. Thomson Bypass, Grovetown interchange, and Saint Sebastian downtown. They're all under construction now at the same time. All of them will be finished by 2009-2010.
You're naming projects in Macon. That haven't even started construction. We have future interstae/highway projects line up. For the future too.
I-75/I-16 interchnange in Macon. Doesn't start until 2018.
