The fastest growing counties in Georgia are mostly all in Northeast georgia, Hall being probably the one with teh fastest.. but also Jackson, Banks, Dawson, Lumpkin, etc. Houston County is also seeing a lot of growth.
Columbia County is the fastest growing county in metro Augusta, but it is not growing anywhere close to the rate of Hall County. Growth in Columbia County has slowed significantly.
Effingham and bryan counties are also growing quite rapidly.

Augusta gains the most residents in total numbers outside of Atlanta.
2007-2008
Augusta MSA gained six times as many people as Macon MSA
Augusta MSA gained three times as many people as Macon CSA.
Still three times as many people. Even with your fast growing suburb Warner Robins included.
http://www.census.gov/popest/metro/t...EST2008-05.xls
The city of Augusta from 2007-2008 gained 1,000 more people than Macon MSA.

Why Augusta doesn't need another small arena? Columbus arena only seats 10,000 people. Somebody from Atlanta wanted to build. A 20,000 seat arena downtown. When I posted the thread in the forum. You were one of the main people. Who said Augusta couldn't support it. You're mentioning Phenix city. When I only gave venues in the city of Augusta. Not any in the suburbs of Augusta.
Augusta updated the Imperial Theatre a couple years back, opened a Mini Theatre this year, and the Miller is under construction. I mean we have a section of downtown called ''Artist Row''. Which is mostly a artsy crowd.
Cultural amenities are a quality of life issue. Metro Augusta gains the most resident outside of metro Atlanta.

I agree 110%. Augusta is head and shoulders above Columbus and Im not talking population. you want to talk culture lilmusket, how about Arts in the Heart, Greek Festival, Hispanic Festival, First Fridays or Westobou. Do Columbus have anything that compares?
Want to talk sporting event? That part of Augusta's culture, maybe not Columbus. Masters. You know whats up with that? Let start with the Ironman 70.3 Augusta or Augusta Southern Nationals Drag Boat Races...just name a few.
Augusta's Ironman event already full 072109 - The Augusta Chronicle

It'll be awesome if Davidson Magnet school would do what SCAD is doing for Savannah Downtown. No one has a better cycling community like Augusta and N. Augusta do. Palmetto Parkway will have a path along it and if the CSRA was smart I will have a marathon competition on it annually.
