ESPN named Valdosta "Titletown" for its outstanding sports teams, especially football. This is a big honor because it is the result of a national vetting process.

Also- Valdosta State University is one of the most dynamic state universities in the entire south, drawing students and faculty from all over the world, and adding to the locale in far greater measure than the sum of its parts. Valdosta is currently growing rapidly, due to in-migration from surrounding states, from the north, and from the west coast. Valdosta is probably destined to be one of the most interesting towns of the south.

to add to valdosta;

wild adventures is a great local attraction. not only lots of rides, but they have a lot of great concerts. i just stopped by my office coming in from jax; the billboard outside just flashed that ricky skaggs will be here sept 19. i'm so there.

south georgia motorsports park is about 20 minutes north on the interstate and is another great attraction that keeps the hotels full.
