Again. No, and no.

So it seems as if you are saying that Georgia being 12th fattest state is something negative. So I know how you really feel now. Thanks.

Of course it's something negative, but that wasn't the question you asked. Maybe it's time for you to see when the next flight leaves for La Guardia?

Embarrassed, no. Saddened, yes. It would be nice to see the trend going in the other direction with obesity being linked to higher risk of diabetes, heart disease, and such.

Crazy suggestion, but it could also be that most folks in the South are not as vain as those in California and New York as you like to focus on.
If you gather all the body fat left over from the magnitudes of plastic surgery, tummy tucks, liposuction, belly bands, and other types of vanity surgery that takes place in those two states, pile it all together, and boom! You may have equal fattiness
Another angle, by the time all the folks in the Northeast "Skinny" states and those in California finish being soaked by their goverments by oppressive taxation, they cannot afford a good dish of fried pickles and Que or nothing else for that matter.
Must be why they are coming down here in droves by the daily count of car tags I see. Come' on down folks! Enjoy our Southern Soul Food, Fat and Fried! We will fatten' ya up!
Of course please leave your left wing ideaology from where you came though, please! We want to keep our taxes low so we can keep on eatin'!!!!!
All jokes aside, yes we all need to do a better job on watching our intake of Sat Fat, Caloric's, etc., but to use a button like this is nonsense. I see many places on a monthly basis and do NOT notice one from another in wide variance. Heck, Philadelphia is always on top as the fattest city! In short, ALL of America and believe it or not an increasing number in Europe and even parts of Asia are gaining in stature. Welcome to the 21st Century with overpopulation and dwindling farms. Introducing processed and chemicals now known as food.
Suggestion: If you want to see a non-political, non-biased documentary, which provides a great example of today's issues with food, not so much intake but ingredients, which cause much of the bloat, go and rent "KING CORN" you can get it on net flix. It will make you want to run out and eat a steak today, not!

Look at the pattern, most of the fattest states are all in the South, Mississippi routinely takes the top spot. Diabetes is also more prevalent in deep Southern states then anywhere else in the country.

Actually, it's probably because after paying the high COL in CA or NY, you can't afford any food, so you end up being thin.......
Personally, I really don't care about the rest of the state- they can all be as fat as they like- that's the great part about America. I take care of myself and my family- the rest of the state is on their own.

I just got back from a week in Seattle, and I noticed quite a few people who couldn't put down that last twinkie there as well. I do think that when I lived in the northeast, people are generally thinner, but obesity and sedentary lifestyles are gaining acceptance everywhere.
The only way to not become a statistic is to eat a better diet and to exercise frequently and vigorously. If you're going to keep eating the deep fried whatever and drinking that huge sweet tea (with 2 days worth of calories in each 32 ounce cup), and sitting on your butt watching college football with a beer in your hand, then you'll be fat, unhealthy, and that will be your decision.
