Comstock home builders? Rep?Quality of homes??
Anyone know much about Comstock homes/builders? They have several neighborhoods around Atlanta......mostly in Jackson,Hall,Forsyth, and one in Paulding.
What is their reputation? Quality of homes they build? Anyone out there live in a Comstock built home????
We are looking at some in Senators Ridge, in north Paulding/Dallas. Any feedback greatly appreciated. Seen many threads on McCar homes so that has steered us away from that direction. But did not see any info. on Comstock...............
Who are the best , quality builders in the Atlanta outlying areas?? in the mid 200's range............

I actually live in Senator's Ridge and my home was built by Comstock. The quality of the homes are very good. Randal is the man in charge of building the homes for Comstock and he is a real good guy, he is sometimes slow to respond but he always takes care of things for you and will work with you on just about any issue. I would recommend them to anyone looking to buy, at least in our community.

I have heard of this builder, but I have never dealt with them as a buyer's broker.
Whatever builder you choose, be careful; many are having financial problems.

You might have more responses if you inquire about Parker Chandler Homes. They were acquired by Comstock Homes sometime around 2004-2006. Comstock Homebuilding Cos is based in Northern Virginia and bought Capitol Homes in Raleigh, NC and Georgia-based Parker Chandler Homes in the last three years.

Shoddy workmanship. We purchased a Comstock home in 2004 (new). The workmanship is horrible. Many of our neighbors are experiencing the same problems...siding coming off, stonework loose, roofs leaking, shingles loose, inproperly installed fixtures causing leaks, more nail pops than I can count in one day, doors/windows not plumb, drywall that wasn't taped and is now splitting along the ceilings and corners, fences falling down..I could go on and on. On top of that, they are still have not finished the punchlist in the neighborhood and on bond 3 years after completing the last house leaving the neighborhood a mess with cracked concrete, problems at clubhouse, missing trees/landscaping, etc. I would never purchase another Comstock built home nor would I recommend anyone purchasing one as we have spent more time correcting Comstock's deficiencies on this new home than I have ever spent on a pre-existing home.

Yep Comstock Homes suck. They are liars. They never honor Warranty issues. They hire un-trained help and it has a negative impact on Quality. The upper management lies too. I have numerous e-mails saying they would fix stuff and they never do. They are terrible worthless people.

They should not be allowed to build homes in Georgia.

I tried to get a response to find they don't return calls or e-mails on Warranty issues. My neighbor had 3 liens on his house because they don't pay their bills or contractors or employees.

Comstock - one of the worst homebuilders out there
DON'T EVER buy a home from these scumbags. Even if you wanted to purchase from them they wouldn't be able to build for you.
Christopher Clemente (CEO of comstock) is a worthless scumbag who is in this business just because his daddy is. (His daddy runs/owns? NVR homes in Virginia) Apparently his father never taught him anything about values. If he had an ounce of pride left, he would spend any money Comstock has to finish started projects and take care of customers who have issues with their homes.
They are in a huge financial mess. They can't pay their subs to finish homes they started. We have two unfinished homes here in NC. They closed the model and removed the building trailor. The grass in the open lots is up to our ears, and they left a mess all over the subdivision. They laid everyone off in Raleigh except for Michael Twiss and his wife Debbie (his wife Debbie is a Clemete I hear... nothing like buying a home from a disfunctional family) I feel really bad for the people who are waiting for their homes to be finished. These guys could care less. We can only hope they won't be around much longer. I hope they fold and sell the open lots to another developer.
Be sure to research your home building company in the future. I'm sure Clemete and his minions will surface somewhere. If you see his name tied to a homebuilder in the future STAY AWAY!
