Default Relocating From Ri To Ga

Hi There Group!

I can't wait to relocate to Georgia but I have the slightest idea about the different areas. Looking a good school system as I have 2 daughters (15 & 9)

Any suggestions for citys/counties?

I am looking at moving down to Georgia also. It seems to me that Peachtree City has one of the best schools. Here is a link that you can use to check the schools in an area in Georgia: http://reportcard2006.gaosa.org/k12/default.aspx. Hope it helps.

Metro Augusta is home to 520,000 a area with several great schools, hospitals, & retail/lifetsyle centers plus offers big city or surburbia. Most urban city outside of atlanta

Default My 2 cents

I would suggest to anyone moving to GA from the NE to stay out of SWGA. Look closer to Atlanta, my suggestion would be to look at places north of Macon along the I-75 corridor. People around here are too non-confrontational and get offended with "Yankee pushiness". Just ask my husband-he's from Boston.

Default Schools

I'm relocating too. One thing I have noticed is that some counties have really great schools mixed in with so-so schools and schools with horrible test scores. I think researching the stats as well as talking with people is very important. This site has been SO very helpful. The web site mentioned above is awesome and I also like schoolmatters.com (Standard and Poors) and greatschools.net.

Some towns seem to do a lot more re-districting as they are growing quickly and often building new schools, so your kids could end up in another school within that system down the road anyway.

We've narrowed our choices and the schools in these areas have been very receptive to our visiting them during our next visit.

Good luck!

Pending on your travel time to work; pending on how long it will take you to reach the school if their is a concern with your child?
