Need lots of help moving to Georgia
I've been reading these threads for about 2 weeks now, ever since my husband and I decided to move to Georgia. I see that many people ask for advice on where to move and what the good areas are. We need more help than that. My husband is taking the Michigan Bar at the end of July and after months of searching we have no job prospects for him here in Michigan. We know that the best thing for our family would be to move. We love Georgia but not only do we know little about it, but we have nothing there. We are desperately trying to find jobs and good neighborhoods for our 1 year old. We are extremely excited to start fresh in Georgia, but could use all the information and advice we can get. I love to read all of the great comments Georgia residents have written in to other threads and would appreciate any advice you have to offer!

Georgia is a big (Biggest state land wise east of the Mississippi) and very diverse. Tell us more on what you’ll like in a new home and we’ll help you fine that perfect location. The following would be helpful, City size, Climate, mountains or beach, Snow or sand. Urban or rural lifestyle. Small lot or the need for large acreage. Do you want to blend into the southern culture and start to talk normal English (Southern) or live in one of many melting pot subdivisions where everyone is from somewhere else? What ever your choice you’ll love GA.

We'd likely be renting considering our circumstances, and we need a safe neighborhood. Not very picky as far as "normal english" or "Melting pot". We don't need beach or mountains or much acreage. We just need a reasonably priced place to rent, in a friendly neighborhood, preferably outside of but near the city so that we can finally get grounded and start our life in Georgia!

Since you and your husband are looking for new jobs (and don't know where the jobs located), I would consider live near MARTA train station since driving is nightmare in atlanta. I would recommend Dunwoody/Sandy Spring (next to MARTA train). There are a couple of Post properties (Post Dunwoody, I believe) and other apartments literally next to train. I mean You can walk to the train station. This way, if your husband find a job in downtown or midtown, he can take train to work. If your husband find a job in north fulton, he can drive easily. The apartment surrounding neighborhood is in really nice location. There are housing next to it costs $600K.

By the way, that location is very close to Perimeter mall. It is very upscale. It probably second best mall (next to Lenox Mall) in Atlanta. My wife drags me to that place from times to times.
