hi, my husband, 13yr old daughter, and elderly father presently live in Ia. we are in our mid 40's and looking for a change. we would like to find a place in GA, its so scenic, live in the country, have a lot of space, and hopefully purchase a victorian style home. we need a good deal! dont mind a fixer upper...
we are both nurses, so we are thinking we could find employment easily. we dont mind driving an hour to work, esp if its a scenic route. where should we look for a real estate agent? we prefer rural living, slow paced.
what small towns fit this description?
thank you kindly for any input!

I would recommend some of the smaller areas outside of Athens, perhaps in Oglethorpe or Madison Counties. Some excellent home bargains and you can find plenty of places within 30 minutes or so of Athens. I know of some excellent properties available. Also, in the town of Maxey's, in Oglethorpe County, I believe that scholarships are available to the children of residents of the town.

A nice rural town is Blue Ridge, GA.
In Fannin County, North Central part of the state bordering Tennessee.
They have a small hospital there also.
Victorians will be hard to come by, but darn beautiful.

One town I'd take a look at is Senoia, in Cowetta County . Though not way ,way out from the Atlanta area , it is one of the nicest small town areas I can think of in Georgia.
When I visit there , I feel like I'm in a different era of time. It has beautiful old town downtown buildings, lots of quaint shops and several of the homes there are dated from the mid 1800's.
Also in nearby Newnan , Ga they are building a new hospital and health care facility. Fayette Piedmont hospital ,up the road in Fayetteville also has several postings listed for jobs in the healthcare field.
It just is a beautiful place to be and enjoy a peaceful afternoon.
