Moving to Atlanta
hi, me and my family are going to be moving to Atlanta and i was just wondering what areas would be the best? I have a 2 and 3 year old, so low crime of course. My wife is going to have to work in Forest Park and would like the least amount of drive time.
Although i've heard that north georgia is way better than south.
What do you guys think?

Hello and welcome to Atlanta! First off, I would recommend living in Henry County (McDonough or Stockbridge). Henry is not too far from Forest Park. The schools are top notch and they seem to have a lot more development in that area. You may also want to look into the city of Ellenwood, IMO.

I think it's a stretch to call Henry County schools "top notch"- there may be a few that are above average, but that's not the case across the board. Ellenwood also has it's good and bad areas, and is in several counties, so it also can't be painted as being ideal in general either.

I like Cobb County but am judging from 10 years ago when I lived their. I currently live in the Northeast and am also considering moving back to Cobb ( Kennesaw or Marietta) with my family. Any ideas o in how it is there nowadays? How about jobs in the education field?? I'm a certified teacher and certified administrator.

Moved from MA two years ago. We live in West Cobb near Kennesaw and love it. There is lots on the forum to review, so do a search and you'll get all you need.
As for jobs, not so much. I don't believe the CCSD is hiring, and there have been layoffs and furloughs throughout the metro area. You may want to inquire directly.

Cobb county would be my recommendation, I moved from new york city, and just absolutely love it here, I live in the smyrna/vinings area. If you need more direction try Janeal Peele 678-895-6740, she is a local realtor here and she is really helpful. All the best!

I live in Cobb County, NE Cobb/Marietta to be precise, and although I love it, and the schools here are really great, the commute for your wife would be awful. Hopefully others with more knowledge of residential areas closer to Forst Park will weigh in with more info.

You need to stay in your own little corner of the world, closest to work. If you don't, life will be a nightmare (traffic) and you will be ready to move in no time at all. Check with the threads and posters for the south side of Atlanta.
