I have heard that St. Mary's and Roswell are great places to raise a family. I'm not familiar with these towns so your feedback is appreciated. What about employment? I work in Advertising and Marketing and would need to secure a job before I move. What is the best resource for employment? I have a 10 year old and 2 year old daughter and definitely want a neighborhood where they can play outside and ride their bike in safety. Any suggestions?

wow, St. marys and Roswell are in totally diff. parts of the state! I've been through St. Marys- it's a quaint, beautiful and historic seaside town. My grandmother lives in Roswell- It's very nice ans upscale with great shopping and restaurants- traffic can be a bear though

if i had to be stuck in this god forsaken state and never have a chance to move back to Texas, St Mary's would definitely be the place i would choose in GA

Rome, GA has a great public school system. You might try www.RomeNews-Tribune.com for a job in advertising. There is a nice apartment complex near the Rome City Schools that has gated access and a playground for children plus a swimming pool and gym. Rome just doesn't have a lot of good shopping places though, but does have a Sam's Club and two WalMart Super Centers and a large Kroger and Piggly Wiggly for groceries. Good hospitals in Rome and lots of doctors as Rome is the NW GA center for medical treatment. Home of the famous Harbin Clinic with all its subsidiaries, Floyd Medical Center, and Redmond Regional Hospital. Some famous colleges in Rome, also. Rome has approximately 30K people now, but Floyd County has 100K people within it. Rome is the county seat. It's a historical town surrounded by seven hills and three rivers.

I like to use realtor.com to compare available homes and prices. Zip code 30710 is about 30 miles south of Chattanooga and about 80 miles north of Atlanta. There are subdivisions with parks and swimming pools. Kids often ride their bikes to meet and play with their friends. It is a very family friendly, secure area.

Kennesaw in Cobb County was picked earlier this year by Family Circle as one of the Ten Best Towns for Families. Like any city it has ups and downs but it is a progressive city with some of the best shopping in the Southeast, easy access to downtown and one of the top lakes in the state. Cobb County is home to Travis Tritt, Julia Roberts, Newt Gingrich, Alton Brown, Robert Patrick (the liquid cop from Terminator), The Black Crowes, and Ty Pennington. Most of those are from Marietta, a fantastic town just across the Chattahoochee River from Atlanta - a town mostly spared by Sherman on his March To The Sea. I am a native and most of my life resident and will be happy to answer any questions you have about the area.
