Exclamation North Georgia Flooding. Photos and Stories.

Many people were touched by the recent flooding in north georgia. Experts have called this the 100 yr. flood. Hardest hit areas included Austell, Canton. West and Northwest of Atlanta. Post your photos and stories here.

Photos below are from Columbus Ga. on the banks of the Chattahoochee River well south of the hardest hit areas.

Georgia Navigator :: Home

They opened most of the major roads--I285 and a section of I20 that flooded today.

Showers are forecast for Sat but no indication that a repeat of last weekend is possible.

DOT said to be very cautious around any barricades--the land around the rivers/creeks might still be soft and debris could damage bridges.

The saddest part? The water doesn't even belong to us.
Perhaps we should send FL and AL the bill for all of this.

I have my own story regarding the flood. I was in my 11am class when the flood started happening. I rode a bicycle to school that morning and got soaked in the process. On my way to the 11am class I got soaked, again. When I got out of class, it was raining so hard that even the umbrella wouldn't work. I also had a laptop to worry about, so that made things complicated. I tried to walk across the campus to get to another building. There was water up past my ankles and I had to get rid of my socks later on. I later found out the Social Science bulding got flooded. After Kennesaw State University was declared closed for the day, I got a ride home, but it took nearly 20 minutes just to get off of the campus. Later on that evening Chastain Road was pretty much a ghost town. When I went back to campus to my bike back, I actually rode the bicycle in the bike lane without fear that night. It was literally near-deserted on Chastain Rd.
