I have lived in Douglas County for over 30 years, but problems with too much growth such as horrible traffic, increased crime and other unpleasantness, such as gangs and car boomboxes are becoming troublesome. Recently a curfew was placed at the mall to help with the gang problem, and hopefully the county will pass and strongly enforce a noise ordnance very soon.

Douglasville is a nice city, but has over developed many of its main roads (Lee Road, Bankhead HWY, Fairburn Road, Highway 5, Rose Avenue, etc ) that has created traffic nightmares that will not ease anytime soon. Worse, that will have severe traffic ramifications in the coming months and holiday season, was installing the unnecessary red light on Rose Avenue.

In all seriousness, try to avoid the mall and HWY 5, whenever possible. Traffic is horrible, and with the many ongoing road expansion projects throughout the county, it only worsens the travel time.

Concerning schools, try here...www.douglas.k12.ga.us it lists the local schools phone numbers, and I'm sure they can answer any questions you might wish to ask them. Good luck, and welcome to Douglasville. I hope you will love it here.

Default Schools

Since you have lots of time and experience in Douglas County, I thought I'd ask you about some of the schools as we are soon to relocate to Mirror Lake. Do you know anything about Mirror Lake Elementary, Fairplay Middle, and Douglas County High?

Thanks,
PMMD

I am sure if you ask your Realtor, you can get some good information.

we did ask and they direct us to a pretty good neighborhood. I just think parents who have kids will have some interesting important insight on what to look forward too. That's all.
