Safe Apartments near Marietta?
Hi everyone,
My son is going to be attending South Polytechnical University in Marietta in January, and apparently the school has no room for him in their housing. We don't know anything about the area, and I had been assuming we could get him something on campus.
Could anyone suggest some safe apartments in the area, or a realtor who might help us? I've even thought of a garage apartment, or something similar for him, but I don't know where to start.
I find myself very concerned about his going it alone in an apartment complex that I know nothing about.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If I were you, I'd be looking in Kennesaw. It's north a few minutes and has alot of newer, nice complexes

Can you tell me....is Kennesaw considered a safer community in general, or does it just have newer apartments?
And about how far a drive is it from Marietta?
Thanks.

You may want to make a similar post in the Atlanta forum--Marietta/Kennesaw is included in the NW metro area.
The area around Kennesaw is more developed. IIRC, Southern Polytechnic is located somewhere near Dobbins Air Base--a less populated area between Marietta/city of and Kennesaw.

Kennesaw is very safe and many of the apartments are new or newer. Marietta abuts Kennesaw, but the far ends of each can be 30 minutes away from each other.

Oh yes, Kennesaw is most definitely safe lol. I can honestly say I have never lived in a safer town. You'd be an idiot to try anything in North Cobb, there is a cop every 25 ft.

Thank you all very much for your insights. Your suggestion of Kennesaw led me to look into that area, and long story short, I think I found the perfect housing for my son with another student from South Poly who lives up there. Thanks again!

Your most welcome. It might be a little late to suggest, but I've lived at Colonial Grand @ Shiloh and Camden @ Shiloh and they were both great complexes. On the newer side and for the most part, full of college kids. They both run around $1000 a month for a 2 bedroom though, I'm not sure what your budget is. They're both about 45 secs off the Wade Green exit.
