Cross Gainesville off the list, even though we are in North GA. We are about 33%+ Mexican, just FYI.

I am just curious as to WHY anyone would want to live in an area that has so few minorities and is 90% white??? I am a white female, btw, and do not understand this mindset...

Brantley County is 94% white

Pierce County is about 87% white

Berrien County 85% white

Wayne County 75% white

Appling County is 77% white

I would imagine a higher percentage of whites live in the rural areas.

If you must know, I hate it here and can't wait to move to a more diverse area. I am not here by choice.

You're in for a culture shock. Go ahead and move into a black neighborhood when you get to SC, you'll see just how much you're welcomed. Blacks in the south don't embrace diversity anymore than whites do, I have lived in a 50% black town my entire life so I know.

I'm really not trying to be smart here, I'm just sayin' it like it is.

lol.......what's up with these generalized remarks? southernnaturelover thats not "saying it just how it is"

Neighborhoods can be different regardless of who the majority is in the area. I would be more concerned about the income or social class of the area rather than race.

My neighborhood is all black with the exception of one middle aged white couple, but majority middle/upper middle class blacks..........I'm pretty sure no one here would mind or care if anyone white moved in....and no one causes any problems for or shun that 1 white couple.

The next neighborhood over is about 80% black (same type of social class as my neighborhood) and people arent making life miserable for the whites that live there and dont mind that they stay in the community.

We even have some mixed sub-divisions over here in the east macon area on the bibb county/jones county border...no problems. People go on about their business.

Now of course we do have lower class black ghettos and white trailer park type areas where I'm sure other races wouldnt be "tolerated".....but it's not correct to act as if you can automatically determine things based on the racial make up of specific neighborhoods.

When you're around a more highly educated, higher income area........I'm led to believe the communities as a whole don't care what color you are as long as you're decent people. Of course you may have some jerks, but they wont be the majority by any stretch.

I think more and more, people are more interested in living with people that share their same values...Getting up and going to work each day, Working hard for your children, setting good examples, ensure that your children go to school each day, ensuring that they are respectful of each other.

Whether they are black, white, asian or hispanic...
