well to be honest...the dropout rate is over 50%...poverty on the Southside of town is horrible...avoid neighborhoods like ARCO or Dixville and the projects on MLK BLVD. Best bet is to move on the Northside the got a couple bad neighborhoods too but only a few (magnolia park, mercer, ect). I'd move to sterling somewhere best bet for your kids. Theres little gangs starting to appear up here called BGD (Black Gangster Disciples) you'll see the pitchforks (their sign) graffitied on alot of odd places on da southside...not nothing serious now but thats how they all start. Don't know if I can say its getting better because theres starting to be more and more members. But usually the violence start when rival gangs appear...but now thats it just pretty much one with alot of members all you gotta worry about then is theft, robbery, ect. Once rival gangs appear thats when all the assault n homicides come.

Teacher
This is an old post so I don't know if anybody will be paying attention to it but I will be graduating from college in May of 2007 with an elementary education degree. I am a male and am looking to get out of this Indiana weather. Brunswick has crossed my mind as Glynn County School corps website was much better than anything I have ever seen so far on the net. If anybody that has been posting on this thread has any advice anything would be appreciated!

Hi,
We have a rental property on St. Simons if you are still looking. It is the downstairs portion of a 2 story house converted to create two apartments. The downstairs portion will be available at the beginning of September. It is a 2BR 2Ba apartment renting for $950/month. It is unfurnished. A deposit would be required for your pets of course.
The property is located on the northern end of St. Simons in the Glynn Haven subdivision. It is a five minute walk to the marshes and a river, and a short drive to Sea Island. If you are not familiar with this part of St. Simons, it is convenient to a shopping center with grocery store, movie theatre, and restaurants (10 minutes away)
If you are still looking for a rental property please reply here, or you can call me at (404) 862-4441.
Sincerely,
Jeff Baldwin

Thanks Jeff !
We have settled in already.
We did look on the island and in Glynn County. We ended up going with a more "rural" area. Coming from a big city, we wanted to have space and land. The island was just a bit too crowded for what we really wanted.

I currently live on Saint Simons due to my husbands job but we are looking to get off the island. We have 3 children living with us and just can't afford to stay here much longer. We don't want to buy as we don't know how long we will be staying in this area before his job sends him somewhere else. Does anyone know a nice neighborhood within 20-30 miles of Brunswick where something may be for rent? We really prefer the country setting since that's where we came from but just something with a yard will do. Any help would be apprecaited.

If this thread was cheese, it would be completely moldy by now. Seriously.
