Sales Tax Question (Atlanta: to buy, luxury, prices)

Hi, I wish to buy an engagement ring and have been looking at a couple of companies both based in Atlanta.
One has quoted that there will be no sales tax and the other said that as from April 1st they will have to charge 20% tax and duties for "a diamond set into a ring"
I am in the UK (I love the service I recieve from the US companies) so the ring will need to be exported, does this make a difference?
I dont know who to believe, please help.

I don't know for sure, but I think the 20% tax may be a luxury tax. Our sales taxes are rarely more than 7%. Sales taxes are often not charged for shipping outside state borders, unless the store is a chain with branches in many locations.

Thanks for the reply, as far as I am aware the stores are not chain stores but at least I can ask the question if the added tax and duties are Luxury taxes or not now.

hello i bought my wifes engagement ring from cumberland diamond in atlanta.
they have wounderful prices and great quality. I would recomend them to anyone. I think they have a website.
