Seeking info on Athens (home, university, live)

I'm a year away from leaving So. Florida and I'm looking at Athens. I'm a former teacher, writer and artist. The proximity of the University seems to be a real positive.I love the outdoors as well.Can anyone give me the insiders view. I hope the city is more than just a drunken college town. I hope to remain a productive artrist and contributer to any community I go into.

I personally love Athens Ga.My wife and i shop there all the time,Its a great town its not all drunks but you got to understand when football season comes its very busy at home games.We only live about 25 miles from athens.I think you would love Athens being there is lots of history there.Everybody loves athens you just have to visit and check it out for yourself.
