which town is considered the safest in georgia?
My husband and I are thinking about moving to Georgia, but we don't know which county or town to consider. We are muslims, who enjoy walking in the park, Italian restaurants and our 12 year old loves to play football. The area would also need to be safe and have good schools for our son.
Any input would be much appreciated, as we have never visited Georgia before. We are looking to move somewhere with a warm climate and within say 1 hours from the beach.
Many thanks in advance for your replies.

You can check the GBI website if you just want to review statistics, but in general crime can happen anywhere. Rural parts of GA are probably less welcoming of strangers overall, and lower income parts of any town or city may be more prone to crime. In the metro areas, especially the Atlanta metro area, you can find what you want with the exception of being an hour from an ocean beach, but you have Lake Lanier and other fresh water beaches close by.
I work with a couple of Muslim and Hindu folks originally from India, and I've not heard them ever discuss racial or religious prejudice, although I'm sorry to say it can happen anywhere.

Take a look at Pooler, Georgia.. just west of Savannah. Lots of growth going on there and getting more diverse as time goes on. About 45 minutes from the nearest beach. A very safe area.

Sounds good. Well I'm slowly narrowing down our choices. I'm also on the North Carolina forum. It's a close call, as both states so great.

I like that it safe. Do you have any idea about the middle school reputation in Pooler?
