Wine Club?
Is there a law in Georgia prohibiting alcohol shipments through the mail? I hate to give give up my wine club membership in Sonoma, CA, but it appears we may have to when we finally relocate to the Savannah area. Has anyone dealt with this issue or have suggestions for a work-around?

It sounds like you can receive 5 cases from an out of state vineyard>>>

Proposed changes were presented to the legislature this session, HB393.
I have no idea where this bill stands.

Thanks!
that is good information, bhs119. It appears it's up to the winery whether or not they want to ship to GA. Could be it's not profitable for them to do so. I'm going to have to do a little more research.
Thanks again!

Somehow, somewhere--I got the idea that the restriction on shipping out of state wine into GA was to support Georgia wine industry--relatively new to the state.
It would be good FYI to have. If anyone has this sort of information.

In order to get the wine shipped to you, you would have to order it IN PERSON at the winery.
The last few words from that link are key:
"an out-of-state winery may ship up to five cases to a resident who ordered the wine at the winery."
In other words, if you want some wine from a specific winery in Napa Valley (assuming you can't find it in a liquor store, of course), you have to go to Napa Valley, visit that winery and place an order.
How they intend to police that, I have no idea, but that's what the stupid law says you have to do.

in person
that's probably why wine clubs don't work.. since they're auto shipments after joining..
wonder if I could open up a po box in jacksonville to receive my shipments? I'll have to check with the ups store.
thanks!
