Default Auburn Georgia?

Hello,
I am interested in moving and would like to be between Buford and Athens. I thought Auburn sounded like a great possibility, but I don't have any really good info on it. Can someone tell me some things about it? Should I be concerned about tornadoes around this area? Or if you have any ideas for another town nearby please tell me. Thanks!

Thanks for your reply! I also heard from someone that they are really building up the area of Braselton which is really close to Auburn. They just built a new Cracker Barrel there and are supposed to be building up a long list of new stores. If anyone else has any more info on Auburn that would be great. How long does it take to get to the "Mall or Georgia" in Buford from Auburn? All info is appreciated!

Auburn Is A Good Area. So Is Hoschton Off Of Hwy 124 As Long As You Stay In The Barrow Area. There Are 2 New Neighborhoods-savannah Oaks And Beringer Pointe. Savannah Oaks Is A Mixture Of Young Families And Retirees, It Is A Quite Neighborhood. Beringer Pointe Has A Lot Of Middle Aged Families To Retirees Living There. The House In Both Start At $200,000.

It Takes Approx. 20 Min. To Get To The Mall Of Ga Depending On Traffic And How Fast You Drive (ha Ha)

I live in the Dacula/Auburn area. I differ though on the Barrow comment.
I live on the Gwinnett Cty side due to lower property tax millage rates and lower car millage.
Barrow has an additional 1% sales tax.

Now keep in mind Barrow is a nice area, just Gwinnett has a higher industrial tax base, thus the difference in personal taxation.

It takes me less than 15 minutes to get to the Mall Area. There are many home sites to choose from also along Rt 324 Auburn Road, Fence Road, Hamilton Mill, etc. etc.

One thing, forget the shopping. The main question is where will you be working. Due to side roads, proximity to Interstates etc. You commute time will be the winner or loser in this situation.

FYI, Gwinnett County alone has almost 800,000 people and Barrow is growing at a 20%+ rate per year.

Good Luck

Just To Correct My Last Response When I Said Stay In Barrow I Should Have Also Said Gwinnett. I Forgot That Hoschton Was Also In Gwinnett Co. I Meant Stay Out Of Jackson Co. Just My Opinion.

Default Auburn and Gainesville Georgia residents please help

Next month my family will be checking out the northeast corner of Georgia, between Gainesville and Auburn for possible relocation. We would love to hear opinions about what these areas are like, including winter weather, jobs and taxes. Thanks so much for your help!

The Auburn, Houshton, Winder areas are up I-85 and about 15 to 20 minutes from The Mall of Ga. There are great new area subdivisions in this area with all kinds of new home incentives to look for. If you chose Winder try to stay toward the northside of the city toward I-85. Dacula is also a great area to look at, with great new schools. Gwinnett is one of the fastest growing counties in the state. I think where you work with the commute is probably going to be one of your main issues. Taxes in Gwinnett are ok and if you are over 60 they are great. Barrow County is phasing in a tax break for seniors. If you are looking for jobs click Indeed.com or CraigsList.com and look in the Atlanta area or whatever city or zip you prefer. Georgia has great weather except for January/Febuary it is cold and August it is very hot and humid, but most of the year it is pretty good. We do have 4 seasons here. If I can help in any way let me know...Bill
