Default Soperton info. please

Howdy yall ! My company plans on building in Soperton and I may be spending some time down there. Where should I live ? I am use to the wide open spaces of the wild west and have never been down south so everything down there will be new to me. So fill me in on what I need to know. Thanks

Wyomiles

Being a native Coloradan I can tell you that you will not find the wide open spaces of the wild west here. Down in Soperton you will find a rural setting but a lot more people around. There are lots of little towns which dot the Georgia landscape. If you want to live in a town you could probably just live in Soperton or drive up to Dublin or Swainsboro for a larger town. If you want more rural find a place in the country. There are places around. I've never been to Soperton so I don't know the town specifically but I have visited that part of the state. Maybe some of our Middle Georgia posters will chime in with a little more specific information.

Thanks XXman777, I was born in Colo too ! Hopefully the company will fly us down there a few times to check things out before we commit. Searching realty adds on the web sure makes it "look" good. Lots of trees down there.Prices are much better than up here too. Wyomiles

I was born and raised in Soperton. Graduated from high school there. from early adolescence , all I wanted to do was to grow up and move from that town. I did, although just 23 miles up the road to Dublin.
Soperton has only one grocery store , 2 pharmacies , 2 banks, one Dollar General , one Family Dollar. No fast food restaurants and no shopping centers or malls . Only 2 places to eat out . There is nothing here. It would be better for you to move to Dublin 23 miles away , Vidalia 18 miles , or Swainsboro 26 miles. You need to go out of town to a larger supermarket , to the dentist ( Soperton has one , but not my choice), doctor , shopping . You are always going out of town for something and with gas prices well over 3 dollars a gallon , one uses a lot of gas and time just going to other nearby towns to shop and to visit doctors, etc. Soperton just does not have anything to offer.

Also , it is just a "little Peyton Place" lol. Everyone knows more about your business than you do. Please , go elsewhere.

Jillian2, thanks for the info. So Dublin would be the place to live and then drive to Soperton to work ? Does Dublin have the doctors, stores, etc. then ?
What about Vidalia or Swainsburo ? Thanks again !

Wyomiles , yes my choice would be Dublin. It is the largest of the three towns mentioned. Population around 17,000 people. It has many places to eat. Good Dentists and doctors , a very good hospital. It is a growing small city. It has many shopping centers , grocery stores , a mall and most everything you might need. Macon is only about 54 miles away if you should need or want to go to a bigger city.

Vidalia is ok ,about 10,000 population. But , Vidalia is a growing town. It would be my second choice in this area. Some in Vidalia come to Dublin to the doctors here. Swainsboro ? 5000 population. Not much there. The town is losing population and some places going out of business. It would be my last choice. Dublin is definitely the place to live in this area.
Dublin is a very nice town.

Here is a link about Dublin and what we have here. Check out this link.

Howdy Partner, I'm posting for the first time just found this website. I would be happy to help you in your search of a place to settled down or to answer questions concerning South Ga. Soperton is a nice quiet rural area. Vidalia, Mt. Vernon, Higgston or Ailey are also options with a drive time of appx. 20-30minutes. What are your priorities? Schools, Medical, Shopping, home with small acreage or land to build on. Vidalia would also be a great choice.
