Can I hear about areas that are safe, conservative, smaller than 50,000 people, reasonable utilities, with affordable & energy efficent apartments for rent for a 40 year-old, straight, divorced male? Affordable would be $1200 per month or less.

I want to be in, or within a short drive to the mountains, but within 20 to 30 minutes each way of Walmart, Best Buy, Kroger, Walgreens, etc. when I need things. Will need to be within commuting distance of work, yet to be found. Would hope to drive 1 hour or less each way to work.

I have found Dahlonega and Duluth so far in the area I am interested in, but yet to visit either. ABSOLUTLEY do not want in or very close to a big city like Atlanta.

Duluth is a very busy Atlanta suburb that would probably not meet your criteria of not wanting to be in or very close to the big city.

Two other towns I'd put on the list if your work happens to be in the Marietta area are, Canton and Jasper.

Blairsville and Blue Ridge have almost no apartment complexes and for a decent well paying job a hour commute is out of the question. Jasper sounds more like what your looking for.

The small towns just across the line from Chattanooga will give you the best of both worlds. You can work in Chattanooga and live in a small, picturesque town. Chickamauga would be my first choice. It's 18 minutes from downtown and 35 to 40 (depending on traffic) from East Brainerd/ Hamilton Place. There are some apartments/ duplexes but I'm not sure who owns them. Try googling and see what you come up with.

Blue Ridge used to be alright but most people that move there usually move back after a few years. Especially folks from the Northwest and eventually most Floridians and folks from the cities of Ohio.
