My husband just got a job at Lockheed Martin and we will be relocating to Georgia from Kansas. Right now we are looking at apartments for rent in Marietta. We are leaning towards on on Roswell Road...cna anyone tell me if this a safe area...we have 3 children and need to know if the area is safe and the if the schools are good. Any information you can give would be appreciated.
Thanks

You need to repost this in the Atlanta forum--Marietta is considered 'metro Atlanta'. You also need to be more specific about 'where' on Roswell Rd you intend to search. This is a very long road---starts in Buckhead and goes out beyond ???Marietta, Kennesaw--I really don't even know how far it goes---sort of follows the Chattahoochee River---it is a long road at any rate.

There are posters more familiar with this part of ATL than I am--this is NW Atlanta---Cobb County/Marietta and Cherokee and Bartow--perhaps a few others.

Smryna might be a better choice for you---not certain of the distance from Lockheed to Smyrna---but if you want to 'Search'---Go to the top of the page and Click---'Search'--then Click/Advanced Search and enter keywords like---'Smyrna, Marietta, Kennesaw'.

ETA:

Here's a previous thread that might give you some ideas>>>>
Working at Dobbins (Lockheed Martin) Where to live for "good" commute?

This is the weekend and it just snowed here--it might be Monday or later next week until regular posters return, FYI.

Hello. Like TakeaHike said, have the moderator move this to the Atlanta thread and follow the sticky instructions. Then we can all help you more. In the meantime, there are two Roswell Roads in the Atlanta area. The Cobb County (which is Lockheed's location) Roswell Road starts at the Big Chicken red light on Cobb Parkway (Highway 41). The Big Chicken is a KFC with a huge wooden chicken on top and is a major landmark/ directional point in Marietta. Learn it and you can't get lost. This Roswell Road (which is also Hwy 120) goes east to Roswell (Fulton County) and intersects with the other Roswell Road (Hwy 9 and 19 at points). The Fulton County Roswell Road runs south into Atlanta. It crosses over 285 goes into Buckhead. Going north it goes to Alpharetta and points beyond. Welcome to Georgia.

The apartment that we are looking at is at Roswell Rd and Lantern Ridge Drive...it is pretty close to North Marietta Parkway. We wanted something that would not be to far from his job.
