Sharpsburg georgia
My family, wife, 2 kids 4 and 8 are thinking of Sharpsburg to move. Currently live in Boston MA. area. Wife will have a job outside sales throughtout the southeast(TN, GA, AL, MS, FL). Location of sharpsburg and things about cannongate elem. that I have found seem great. My daughter 4 is developmentally delayed in all areas of development and test scores are great for schools, but getting the proper services are just as important. Homes seem in the proper range for us 200k-300k. So my questions?
Am I missing something
Schools (cannongate) or others providing good services to kids like mine?
Is Sharpsburg a nice place to live?(locals and transplants )
Is the quality of life what I think? (low crime, good schools, good people)
Is living outside of a sub-division ok?
I mean to be honest with the added expense and all the rules living in a condo. was never very appealing to me and thats the way I veiw sub-division life. Maybe some dont have unreasonable dues, but it just doesnt seem to be me.
Any thoughts or opinions from all would be appreciated
thanks
Scott

We just returned from the area and while we liked Sharpsburg, we decided to buy a house in Fayetteville instead. I think you get more for your money in Sharpsburg, but it also seemed that many places are on well water. We decided we didn't want to be on well water.
You get get a lot for 300K though. We got almost everything we wanted for 250K in Fayetteville. The market seems soft like everywhere else too so it's a good time to buy.
Anyone wanna buy our house in Port Charlotte Florida??

Im glad ur first thought was you liked it and as far as well water I live with a well now and Ill tell you one thing you dont have to deal with the city or town uping your water bill ever year. Some places around boston are part of the mwra which has made a water bill a real expense every yr. I know some people that are paying almost $1,000 a yr for water. What a joke
Thanks for ur thoughts

In the Canongate area, you have good access to the interstate, the airport, and Atlanta. Your kids will be going to Northgate which is a good school, there's not a lot of stores and restaurants right in that area, but you're pretty close to Newnan, Tyrone, and Peachtree City which all have good retail. You can get a good house for less money. It's fine to live outside of a subdivision; I don't think there will be a huge difference. Good luck with your move!

Sharpsburg
We have been living in Sharpsburg since 2002 and really love it here. Our daughters (ages 5 & 7) go to Thomas Crossroads Elementary and like the school and their teachers. Our neighbor's teens go to Canongate & like the school & are active in sports. As far as concerns about your daughter & her disabilities, I know that their are 2 families in our subdivision that have kids with physical as well as mental challenges & they attend local schools & are doing well. We live in a subdivision & like it because we have a community park & nature trail as well as covenants to keep some stability in the area (like no purple houses, etc!) and the houses are maintained nicely. We previously lived in a non-convenant community in another city & didn't like that some folks didn't keep up their property...it hurts your property value & neighborhood, in my opinion. Our subdivision dues are around 150 a year, so I think that's reasonable. We have an annual picnic in the park with inflatables for the kids and lots of food & fun. Within our subdivision there are many families that are transplants from other states as well as native Georgians. Low crime, nice neighbors and close to shopping. Not very many restaurants in Sharpsburg other than fast food, but a short drive to Newnan or Peachtree City & you will find restaurants and movie theaters. Sharpsburg has a brand new library that just opened this year & it's wonderful & easy to use. Hope you find this helpful...Sharpsburg is a nice city!

We chose to live in Sharpsburg a year ago and have a child in Canongate. It is a great school with an incredible principal. Although I do not have any experience with the developmentally delayed programs, I have heard good things about it from others.
I think Sharpsburg is a nice place to live. It is definitely more rural than a lot of other areas and that can take some getting used to (at least for me). However, I can sleep with my doors unlocked if I choose to.
Personally, I would not recommend living outside a subdivision here. Sharpsburg is a growing area and is becoming highly desirable because of the developments and new construction. I think you can get more bang for your buck in a development (imo).
As previously mentioned, the location is excellent for easy access to the interstate, shopping, restuarants. There is little traffic here which in Atlanta, is a huge plus!

I was born in newnan and raised in sharpsburg. I loved it then and it was real small back then. Does anyone know the people that had the old sharpsburg store in the 50's and 60's? Their son was name clay cole. I would like to move back there one day. Thanks
