Question kinda stumped on finding Watkinsville housing

My husband has been offered a position in the Athens area. He already has excellent employment where we currently live, however, we are coming in a few weeks to investigate the Athens vicinity and see if we want to pursue a move to Georgia. We would never purchase a home in a new area until we had been there for some time. So, I am looking for a rental home and therein is my trouble. I am having a very difficult time finding much in the way of homes to rent. Is there anyone at all who can tell me what resources are out there to aid in our search? We would ideally like to be in Watkinsville or Bishop. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

The Athens area newspaper is online at onlineathens.com They have a rental section.

If the job is in Athens, Bishop is a little further away. Watkinsville and Bogart (both in Oconee county) are closer to Athens.

Thank you FromGA, I will keep checking back with this rental section. We need to have easy commuting access to both Athens and Greensboro, so I am trying to find a good midway point.

My understanding of Bishop is that it is a very small town, but I am not familiar with it. Looks like you take Hwy 15 to Greensboro, GA. Watkinsville has good access to Hwy 15, and you should be able to find rentals there.

There are plenty of rental properties available. Bishop is only a couple of minutes further from Athens than Watkinsville, basically a straight shot down 441. But then it depends upon where in Bishop, or Watkinsville, that you live. Both are convenient to route 15. Decide what you want for a rental, bedrooms, baths, yard, pets, etc. You can try the sources mentioned or you can contact an agent to help you in your search. They have access to more availabilities than you will see in either location. Also, determine whether you want to lease, which might get you a better deal, or go month to month.

Keeshonder, thank you so much. I am sure there are a number of homes to choose from and it is just a matter of making the right connection. I have contacted a couple of agents with what I thought was a very clearly put request. However, I have had no success with this as they are not interested in helping because I am not looking to buy at the moment. One did say they would get back to me with some rental options (I gave him specifics of what we were looking for), but it has been some time now and I don't think I am going to hear from him. We are coming in a few weeks to survey the area and see if we want to pursue this move. We will make additional trips to look at housing.
