Atlanta
I think I would find work in Atlanta first and then decide where to live based on that. There should be a lot of opportunities in Atlanta especially if you can be flexible about where you live and public transportation isn't a problem.

Atlanta is a business-focused city, so jobs are fairly plentiful - unemployment rate usually pretty low. Public transportation stinks. What exists is good and pretty reliable, but the supply of public transport is limited. Plan carefully where you live to ensure you have easy access to a train/bus without changing transferring more than once.

nibseygirl,
Douglasville has seen a lot of growth in the past few years. I have friends that live out there and I have to pack a sack lunch becasue the trip is so long in my opinion. But there are restaurants....chain restaurants and the commute to Downtown Atlanta is not horrible. But...there is no Access to Marta ... Schools-I heard were good in Chapel Hills or something like that....

Public transportation outside of City of Atlanta/Fulton County and DeKalb County is spotty at best... just be aware.

Atlanta would be it. It would be best if you found a job before you got here though.

You really, really, really would not want to live in that area of Lathrop Ave. This is a large industrial area. You would have a commute or several miles, but while the traffic is hectic at times, it's not grid lock. It's also not an area where you could step out for lunch or a quick shopping trip.
