Default Nice Apartments in East Grand Rapids?

Hi. I'm thinking about moving to East Grand Rapids and could use some advice. I know East Grand Rapids is safe in general but has some shady areas nearby. I miss the neighborhoods of long ago where you didn't have to lock your door at night lol=).

Does anyone know of any nice Apartment complexes (not condos or homes with rooms for rent) within walking distance to Reeds Lake and Gaslight Village?

Thanks!

EGR is probably as far from shady as you can get.

The City of Grand Rapids borders EGR on all sides (I think) but don't let that fool you... those are nice neighborhoods too for the most part. Eastown is the "shadiest" and I know plenty of people living there and loving it.

At any rate, apartments are few and far between in EGR. It's a tiny town of primarily single-family homes and condos.

Lakewood Hills is the only apartment complex in town as far as I know.

There are plenty of homes you can rent, a few duplexes, and a couple smaller buildings that have a few apartments in them (bordering Eastown neighborhood) but it's tough to find stuff without just driving around and watching for a "for rent" sign.

GRAR.com has a search tool as well.

The rule of thumb: Anything with an EGR address is going to be pretty safe. I wouldn't worry about the surrounding neighborhoods of Grand Rapids. They're all nice places to live as well.

There are no neighborhoods bordering EGR that are unsafe. The Grand Rapids neighborhoods that border EGR aren't as nice as EGR itself, but they tend to be pretty solid simply due to proximity to EGR.

The only "questionable" are would be the East-town neighborhood of GR which still has some shady parts, but those parts don't border EGR. Also, EGR cops are notoriously strict. They take security in the area very seriously and this is a pretty big deterrent to people.

Thanks for the help and reassurance. I called Lakewood Hills Apts but, $1,125 seems steep for a 1 bedroom apartment. I take your advice and drive around and look at some other options.

No disrespect, but EGR is expensive.
My friend is renting a 4 bedroom house for just over $3,000/mo.

$36,000 a year seams steap when you could own a 4 bedroom in the same amount of time in Grand Rapids. Sure, its bank owned and you might have to dewinterize. Still, $1125 a month for a 1 bedroom better include bedturning, an open mini bar and continental breakfast.

I'm at woodland creek which isn't egr, and it's in Kentwood, but good bang for the buck. It does include continental breakfast, but no bedturning and minibar.
