GE Aviation - Good Place to Work?
I notice many engineering openings at GE Aviation. A few openings are a perfect match to my skill set.
Anyone have an insight on the working conditions for an engineer at GE Aviation? Challenging work environment? Good management? Do they value an older and more experienced engineer (more expensive) over a younger and less experienced (less expensive) engineer?

A pretty good friend of mine works there and he loves it. He also comes and goes as he pleases, which I think is unique to his role. He also travels a good amount for them. GE as a whole is generally known as a challenging and metrics driven environment. Results speak, the rest really don't matter as much. That being said GE Aviation in GR was formerly Smiths Aerospace so I'm not sure how much influence GE has had on the culture since it was purchased.

Do all their jobs require engineering degrees..? I am perusing a Six Sigma certification which could be helpful. I saw other companies like Johnson Controls up there too.

I'd imagine it depends on the job. My friend actually has a business degree and started off there pushing papers right out of college. He has engineering skills now but he's more of a project manager at this point.
