I would like input/opinions on the elementary schools within the city of Kalamazoo. Please, I am not looking for folks to bash KPS in general, just want to hear about some of the schools that might be performing well in the area. There are typically a few schools that stand out in any district, I just want to get an idea of what people think are the best ones in Kalamazoo. Thanks!

I'm biased towards my elementary school Spring Valley in the Mt. Olivet neighborhood.

I did my student teaching at Spring Valley! I also recommend it!

To be honest, Kalamazoo has a lot going for their Magnet School Program. Check out all of the great options of magnet schools. I did practicum teaching at Woods Lake- magnet for the Arts, Washington Writers Academy- magnet for writing, and my student teaching at Spring Valley- magnet for exploration ...

Since then, I have taught in two very large districts on the East Coast and neither have anything like the magnets of KPS.

Good luck

It was awhile ago...2004 sixth grade classroom

I was very impressed with all the magnet schools (and a few non-magnets) I had a chance to work in.
