Are you sure that is correlated to the job market?

Well Grand Rapids is significantly smaller than the cities I mentioned. It could just be relative size coupled with the fact my field is a bit specialized and unfortunately shrinking. I was offered a job about 90 miles from GR, but I would have had to take a significant pay cut and it's still a bit far from where I want to be, so I decided to pass.

I know people who have moved to rapidly growing areas (like Raleigh) with masters degrees and weren't really able to find a good job, and ended up moving back to Michigan. Really depends on the job.

The unemployment rate for the metro just came out at 3.3%, the lowest in 15 years. This is in addition to an expanded labor force and expanded employment. The rate hit 2.1% back in 1998, wonder if we'll see that again, this year?

Wow is right. 22,000 since this time last year, largest jump since 1993.
