When the post office building first opened it was designed so that regular mail was processed on the first floor and parcel post was processed on the second. There is a loading dock on the second floor that used to be used by the parcel post delivery trucks. The trucks used the ramp. Originally the ramp had a de-icer system and it was not covered but after the de-icer system corroded away the cover was added. There is another ramp underneath the one you can see that goes to the basement where the smaller mail delivery vehicles were parked. After UPS took most of the package delivery business away from the postal service, I think the the second floor was re-purposed. I'm not sure what they use it for now. With the increase in package delivery thanks to the internet, maybe it's packages again. All this of course has nothing to do with the Rowe Hotel building.

Suburban multifamily market gains steam

Good article talking about the pace of construction in Metro GR. Apartment occupancy over 98% in the area which is why projects are so bullish right now. I haven't been keeping up on posting every new proposal coming through. Needless to say we should see continued growth in city population when estimates come out.

Downtown's urban lifestyle drew couple to loft-style condominium on Monroe Center | MLive.com

Article is focused on a couple that moved into a condo on Monroe Center. It's more insight into why the downtown residential market is so hot. Also cool views of the city.

Have there been any actual signs on the ground for the Venue and the other building planned next to the BOB?

The Venue tower won't begin (according to Orion) until Arena Place is up and apartments there begin to lease, so they don't overlap.

Downtown entertainment complex and apartment tower get tax breaks | MLive.com

Tax breaks approved for Venue and tower, says ground breaking should happen this summer. The tower is of course what I'm more anticipating. I'm always leary of anything with height going up downtown, that i may not happen. Anyone have insight?

71 Units proposed along a stretch of eastern that is mostly vacant I imagine this will go through pretty quick. More infill, more density.

Construction begins on 112-unit college housing complex on city's West Side | MLive.com

Westsiders tried to fight this one, It's breaking ground this month apparently that's pretty good. It will look pretty awesome with the bigger project down the street proposed. West side is really taking off.
