Moving to Grand Rapids
I am looking for information regarding good/bad neighborhoods in Grand Rapids area. Middle-Upper Middle class family with older children. Looking for a nice family friendly and safe neighborhood, but not a snobby uppercrust one.

I've been interested in the area as well. Try searching this site for topics about grand rapids. You'll find there are quite a few. I'm hoping to travel there in the summer with my kids and husband to get a feel for the place. Good Luck with your search!

Welcome alluralisa! As JenM said, just do a search (the search function is right at the top center of the page, and go to Advanced Search) for Grand Rapids in the Michigan forum and you'll find a lot of posts about neighborhoods and schools, etc..

I grew up in Grand Rapids, still have family there. If you like old houses, check out the Heritage Hill and Cherry neighborhoods. My Mom and brother live there and like it a lot. Also the northern part of the city proper -- Comstock Blvd/Plainfield intersection is a place to start. I don't know about the schools, except East Grand Rapids system which has a strong reputation.

Hey there,
Grand Rapids is a fantastic, family-friendly town with lots to offer. Numerous colleges, a growing downtown, and much variety of Real Estate.
