The SE side is a huge area...so are you telling people to stay away from EGR, Ada, Cascade, Kentwood, etc? Narrow it down to zip codes or streets.

I think he is tellling the OP to stay away from the SE side because of the parts of town he's looking at. It is quite obvious he/she isn't moving to ada.

I haven't really discounted moving away to the outlying areas like East Grand Rapids, Ada, Cascade etc.. I really like the Meijer in Cascade actually... it's better than any Meijer in Detroit. Awesome food selection! :-)

I would like to live in an area where the schools are a little better quality, but I am sure that the rentals (not currently looking to buy) would be rather costly at this time. I would like to economize as much as possible, though I am not willing to sacrifice personal safety for the sake of saving a few hundred a month.

Also if anyone knows any good websites other than oodle [dot] com or leasegr, than please include them so I can find rental availabilities. I would like to move in July.

I live over on the west side near Bridge St. and Walker. It's not a really bad area. There was a mugging in my driveway and a car hit mine when someone down the street was shooting at that car all in the same night, but since then its been pretty quiet and I don't feel scared walking down to the pub at night.
