Default Best place to watch the fireworks in GR?

I'm working on wooing a female friend of mine and would like to find a nice quiet place with a good view of the fireworks next Friday. She was trying to get us on top of the building she works in but apparently the new owner of the building isnt having that. Anybody know of other out of the way places where we could open a bottle of wine and enjoy ourselves instead of being surrounded by thousands of people and screaming kids?

I didn't know there was a fireworks display in GR. Can you provide details?

*sorry to answer your sincere question with my own selfish question.

Sure! There's a huge fireworks display downtown. People usually camp out on the bridge and they have festivals and stuff

And to answer your question.....you're probably going to have to watch the fireworks with some people unless you know someone whose property overlooks it. You can see them from some schools usually. There's probably information on the city of grand rapid's website. I havent looked into it since I'm not living there anymore

Yeah and thats the problem I don't have any friends with spectacular views. She is into urban exploring though, so if anybody knows of rooftops we may be able to get on to, that might work as well.

You can try some of the parking ramps. Or try Crescent Park. From North Division right near the Van Andel Institute expansion, head up Crescent St to the park at the top of the hill.

I wouldn't suggest doing any rooftop exploring. A young amateur photographer fell from a rooftop downtown just last summer.

With Floyd Mayweather's Festival going on that same weekend, you might want to park outside of downtown and walk in (if you don't live near downtown).

Yeah, that Crescent. Lookout Hill might be OK. There's a park at the Northern end of Fairview that you might able to see the fireworks.
