Default What's new in Grand Rapids?

Hi there.......

Just wondering what new restaurants and stores have popped up in and around good ole GR in the last year....I now live in Denver but will be visiting soon and want to know if there are some cool new places not to be missed.

Thanks!

Clyde Park and 54th in Wyoming:

Sonic takes a big leap toward first local location - Advance Newspapers - MLive.com

But they have 12 more planned, so I'm sure you'll see a lot more in the near future. I don't get the hype, but some do.

For other new restaurants, the Green Well on Cherry Street is one of the best new ones in town. Graydon's Crossing has a new restaurant in Gaslight Village in EGR, with a very impressive drink menu. Hopcat downtown on Ionia is one of the best new beer bars in the Midwest, if you like a HUGE selection of micro-brews. Rose's on Reeds Lake has added a massive new indoor/outdoor area, with views of the lake and a big fireplace. And six.one.six in the new J.W. Marriott downtown is pretty sweet.

For new shopping, check out the area around Cherry St, Lake Drive and Diamond Ave. It used to be pretty sketchy, but it's changed dramatically.

That's actually been stopped.. sorry no sonic for you!

Actually a big change you will notice is the Bridgewater Place, they added a whole new section of condos and it looks very nice, although it is not quite finished yet

It was denied by the Wyoming Planning Commission because it was going to have a drive-through (in an area of Wyoming that doesn't allow them), but the Wyoming City Council overrode the PC and allowed a variance.

Not really big news in my book. As someone else mentioned, if you want lists of new developments in Grand Rapids, check out rapidgrowthmedia.com orModerator cut: liniking to competitors sites is not allowed. There isn't nearly the amount of activity here as there is there.
