That is sad to hear about Little Mexico. I used to work near there and frequented it often.

El Arriero is good, I also like La Cantina on the corner of East Paris and 28th St. for the free chips and beans......not that the Mexican is anything really to write home about, but the downstairs is cool and it is cheap

thanks again guys.. Rafav's is not too far away from me. I'll pay em a little visit.

Btw, I went to the cajun restaurant Chez Bayou, and I was NOT impressed. I love cajun food, but I would say that Popeyes offers a better Po' Boy than them.. For a little more than $8 I got a pitifully-small and very UNtasty catfish sandwich completely lacking any flavor. The wife ordered the same and we both agreed to never revisit. Sad since we are big fans of the cuisine.

The pictures on the news show that it was completely destroyed and non-salvageable. Miami is full of it's own smorgasbord of ethnic cuisines. Minus the hurricanes, you've got it made foodwise.. Plus your new home city – in case you didn't already read the news, was rated as having the most attractive people of any part of the country. I'd hate to think of what city came last on that list.

That is terrrible! I feel so bad for the people there, there was a waitress who was always so nice, I was really looking forward to coming back and telling her about miami :P

And Yes, it is definitely well-deserved too haha. The women here are flat out gorgeous no matter where you look and the restaraunts are great too.

How's Grand Rapids going for ya?

Sounds like they are going to rebuild (and maybe even make it a bigger).

Part of the problem is that there really isn't any mexican food in GR. Show me the place selling chili colorado, chili verde, carnitas, suizas, mole??

Not one - nobody even knows what I'm talking about.

Wait.... Taco Boy has "red meat" and "green meat". GREEN MEAT?

I always see a ton of Mexican restaurants when I drive through Wyoming (Burton St, Grandville Ave). None of them have "authentic" Mexican food? They certainly don't look like chains.

When I went to little mexico I asked them to cook me up some mole con pollo and they had no problem doing it for me.

If you are going to taco boy for " mexican food" then I don't think anyone on this board wants to hear your complaining.

The restaraunts have to cater to who their customers are, but it's not like they are clueless as to what is going on. Try going to a restaraunt where you can speak spanish with everyone who works there, and chances are they will be more than happy to make you something you ask for. If you go to a typical chain, or a place where most of the employees are white, chances are they are not going to know everything you are talking about
