Unhappy Senior retirement living? West side GR, Walker, Grandville, Allendale, Jenison?

We are looking for some type of independent living in one of these areas. I am semi handicapped and hope to find someplace where there are groups interested in bible study, genealogy, writing, book discussion. Also want to be closer to medical facilities.

We are not into playing games like cards, bingo and I know that is very popular.

My husband is older, but much more active and less limited. Right now I'm unhappy, stuck at home. He would not be happy in a small apartment (especially if I had to set up my "office" in the living room).

We have looked for newer homes for several years. Few to none are ranch without walkout or daylight basements. I wonder if groups sharing any of my above interests might be locally available in any of these areas mentioned if we did find a home or large apartment? I can drive, but not far.

Are all retirement or independent living places small, lacking storage? Is there any kind of community here somewhat like the "Villages" in Florida?

Any advice helping us to find a solution that might be a compromise (since I doubt there is a place perfect for both of us) would really be appreciated!

Default Maple Creek?

Have you looked at Maple Creek? It appears to offer a variety of living options for senior adults, including ranch style condos for independent living.

Thank you for the response! It does look like what we need except it looks like it is in east GR and puts us too far from our family.
