In invoking the past, of young teenage wives/mothers and farms and all, do remember that there was no real birth control available, so people weren't "deciding to start families," they were just getting married ASAP to legitimize a pregnancy- I imagine that's at least part of the cult of virginity being so important. For a young teenager to marry or bear a child now, it's a whole different thing, not good for anyone, and utterly preventable.
Back in the 1800's for instance it was due to life expectancy. Things that are no longer a serious threat in the modern developed world like smallpox, cholera, and tuberculosis were a major threat in those days. I can see how they didn't want to wait considering you could possibly die by the age of 25 due to one of the diseases mentioned here.
Yep, my friend works for CPS. Last year, one of her clients encouraged her 14 year old daughter to keep a baby conceived during a rape b/c it would allow their household to reap more government benefits. Unbelievable
SAD. Wrong. And unbelievable. All of the above.
I do think that "parents" encourage teenagers to "keep the baby" to continue the gravy train of benefits.
There are also many from the "Pro Life Community" who are against birth control and termination - even in the case of rape or incest. They are also against plan B. The morning after pill.
Don't blame people of color, either. Out of wedlock child birth has been declining in the AA and Hispanic communities. It seems to be working class and middle class whites who are making this mess.
Does the Guinness Book recognize this, after careful investigation, as factual ? Or is it a fake story ?
Much as some of us wish it were, it's not fake.
