I just thought that this would be a nice request; since grandparents for the most part are co-parenting and some have had to raise their grandchildren for whatever reason; I believe they could use some support and ideas. since we are aging and some of us are taking on the role of parenting while aging.
What do you think? should we have a forum or sub-forum?

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! I am one of those grandparents. Count on me to participate.

As for forum or sub-forum, please remember that grandparents raising grandkids are harried and exhausted. Make it the one that is easier to find.

I second that. I am not a grandmother but my mother is helping us a lot with our kids.... Grandparents definitely deserve a forum.

If I recall correctly we had a similar poll in the Retirement Forum ages ago, and had rather a large vote. I'll try to find it.

It would be nice to have a sub-forum for us grands.

Here's the other grand-parent poll that blue62 started back in the summer:

http://www.city-data.com/forum/retir...nts-forum.html

Perhaps with the combined number requesting such a sub-forum, the group could bring the idea to About the Forum for the Administrator to review.

I said no- and it's not because I don't think grandparents parenting is important. Instead it's because I'm not a grandparent but I have really enjoyed reading threads from grandparents and the challenges they face not only when they are raising their grandchildren, but also when they struggle with watching their daughters/sons or DIL/SIL raise their own children.

I have found the grandparent perspective very insightful and it has helped me to understand some of the challenges I have faced with my own mother when we have differing opinions about how my son should be raised.

If the grandparenting threads were in a separate subforum, I might not run across those threads like I have. As it is, time is precious and I read when I can but I would hate to see them separated out because I might not visit there as often as I do the parenting forum.

I hope I make sense.
