Our daughter told us last night that when she got our 8yr old g-daughter off the bus the other day she seemed stressed. When she asked her what was wrong, she said "I really could use a Shirley Temple!"

My daughter was about 3, riding in the backseat of the car one day, and the song "Walk This Way" by Aerosmith came on. She started singing "HARD TO EXPLAIN!" at the chorus at the top of her lungs, and Daddy and I tried to tell her that they were actually saying "walk this way" and not "hard to explain". She looked us both dead in the eyes and said, "YOU sing it your way and I will sing it MY way, thank you very much."

About 15 years ago my lil daughter found an old Michael Jackson thriller album in a storage box and came into the room holding it up and sincerely commenting "Wow, look at how big the cd's were when you were young!" My husband and I still get a chuckle from that memory.

I was just on the phone with 3 yo grand and they were in Walmart looking for an anniversary gift; I asked her what was wrong with Mommy?? (I could hear the sighs in the background)...And she said my mommy is "urstrated". I said what did you say honey? ( laughing to myself, she said again "she's Furusstrated"! I mean frustrated!!" I cracked up.

We lived in the Panama Canal Zone when my kids were in grade school. They rode the bus to school with older kids. One night watching TV (armed forces TV at that) there was a reference to a ***** cat. My daughter turned around and said 'I know what that is!' My son 5 yo said 'and I know what a dick is too'
OMG.. I almost fell off the chair. Trying to remain calm I asked them to explain, hmm yep they knew..
Of course, I explained why we don't say those things, but I realized they were learning way more on the bus than in school

Oh yeah, it's always those kinds of comments that get you - or the questions! Always when you're not ready for them, too!
My daughter asked me, at 3, why the front of Daddy's pants stuck out and mine didn't and I nearly had a heart attack. LOL!

Okay-I'll embarass my son (who is now in his 30's)!! At 3 years old a new neighbor moved in next door and I invited her in for coffee-my little angel walked in and said "Hi, I'm --- I have a penis but my Daddy has a bigger one." We still talk about it to this day.

My two young grandchildren recently had human development type classes at school. I was reading in the other room when I overherd this conversation; "Did they tell you where baby's come from?" "Yeah." But did they tell you how baby's get made?" "Yeah, gross! I'm never doing that so I'll never have a baby." "But you know that mom and dad must have done that, right?" "They must have done it twice or you wouldn't be here too" "Oh gross." I had to get where they couldn't hear me crack up. I told my daughter about the conversation later and she told me that they had already confronted her with the awful knowledge and she wasn't about to explain to them that maybe it had been more than twice.
