we were given many gift cards, beautiful clothes, a cross necklace, stuffed animals, and gift baskets for our daughter dedication.

The gift basket was very helpful as they had a little bit of everything that a 4 month old needs. onsies, chews, plush toys, etc. The cross necklace is precious but shes not old enough for it yet.

my mom got my kids each a religious stuffed animal/doll. One was a lamb that plays Jesus Loves Me. The other is a precious moments doll that says a prayer when you squeeze it. My in laws gave them money. From aunts and God parents, they got photo frames, first bibles, and normal baby gifts (clothes, blankets). Go to a Christian store and see what catches your eye.

A savings bond. It won't clutter up the house or be packed away or given away when Baby outgrows it.

This is a great idea! Even if you contribute small amounts for birthdays and holidays, it will grow over the years.

My parents and grandparents gave my children a savings bond. One grandmother passed my son a ring that my grandfather had been given for his christening. Others sent money. Some sent little Christian knick-knacks and a small "baby bible". A SIL sent a "My first Bible". We used some of the money to buy a firesafe box, which we keep all of his savings bonds in, the rest to open a savings account and the other stuff is now packed up in a box, waiting for him when he's 'older' - he's 10 now. The ring is in my jewelry box. He used to like to wear it for photos, but it's too small now.
